  • Notes
    • She was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin.

It's hard to find the words that describe this lady who stood barely 4" tall and weighed less than 100 pounds.

She was the last of her generation but that didn't matter, she made friends with the young as well as the old, never forgetting a name or a face. Known for her great memory; she could tell you the weather and rain fall amounts on this day 50 years ago along with what happened on this day in history from years gone by.
A lady with a quick wit, she was never without a story and was known as the one who had all the answers about past family and local history. She was active in her church and was truly involved and in all aspect of her family. Leona had a great love for fishing and she helped to run the family farm after losing her mom at age 11, never having a driver's license but often times found driving the tractors. She is now at peace and reunited with all of her family that has passed before her.
This very small lady with an amazing faith was such a big presence in our family and she will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
