Notes - Barbara Ann (Hagen) Brainard, 80, formerly of Pittsburg, Illinois, passed away on October 1, 2017 in Marion, Illinois.
A memorial celebration will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, October 5, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion, IL with a brief visitation beginning at 10:00 AM.
Barbara was born December 29, 1936 in Louisville, IL to Kermit and Veneta Hagen. She married Glen O. Brainard on March 29, 1957 in Louisville, IL.
Prior to marriage she worked for a Clay County attorney as a legal secretary. After starting their family, Barbara was a stay at home mother and took pride in gardening, cooking, sewing, and quilting.
She also was a volunteer and Shawnee Christian Nursing Center and was a Sunday school teacher for many years at Parish Park Christian Church.
Later after raising her threr children, Barbara was employed with Food Town grocery store in Marion, IL. Upon the time of her death she was a member of First Christian Church in Herrin, IL.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents and oldest brother Wayne Hagen.
She is survived by her husband Glen, Sons Michael (Sandra) Brainard and two grandchildren and one great grandchild and Gregory Brainard and three grandsons and seven great grandchildren and daughter Debra (Larry) Fones and two grandsons. Her brothers: Robert (Janice) Hagen, Roger (Dena) Hagen, Larry (Kathy) Hagen, and Darrell (Bobbi) Hagen. Her sisters: Adeline (Larren) Kincaid, Joyce Deimel and Kathryn (Bill) Brown, five Nephews and 11 Nieces and many friends.
The family requests no flowers be sent, however memorials may be given in Barbaras name to First Christian Church of Herrin.
