  	Billings Gazette January 28, 1957 STEVENSVILLE - An 83-year-old Stevensville woman, Mrs. Lillian Croughan, perished in a fire of unknown origin here Saturday. The fire belched smoke from the home shortly after Mrs. Croughan reported it to firemen. Minutes later, an unexplained explosion blew out windows and the front door. Mrs. Ray Golder, next door neighbor, noticed the fire just after the alarm was made. She went to the front door to call to the woman. The explosion occurred about that time. Firemen from Stevensville and Etna arrived, but the blaze was too far along. The house burned to the ground. Mrs. Golder recalled that Mrs. Croughan had told her earlier Saturday that the water pipes in her home were frozen and that she had a heat lamp turned on them in a closet. Mrs. Croughan had lived alone in the six-room frame home since 1945. She is survived by three daughters and two sons.
