- Enlisted and entered active service on May 6, 1943 at Great Lakes, Illinois. Trained and served as a Machinist's Mate (Refrigeration) Second Class in the Amphibious Force. First assignment was aboard the Attack Transport USS Wayne APA-54, on which he saw combat in the Marshall Islands, the South Pacific Island Hopping Campaigns and the invasions of Leyte, Luzon and Okinawa. Later served aboard the USS Little Rock CL-92. Eligible for The American Campaign Medal, The Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal with several bronze battle stars, The WWII Victory Medal and The Good Conduct Medal. Honorably discharged on July 16, 1947 at Great Lakes, Illinois.
