    Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

    • Dale E. Bowen, 81, of Flora, IL died at 5:45 PM on Sunday, December 7, 2008 at his home in Flora.

      He was born August 26, 1927 in Clay County, IL to William H. & Ada (Slade) Bowen. He married Ruth Ann Perry on June 16, 1951 in Flora. She preceded him in death on December 19, 2001.

      He served during WWII in the U.S. Navy and retired after 30 years as a U.S. Postal employee. He was a member of First Christian Church in Flora, the Beau Knot Sunday School Class of the church, and held several positions in the church including being an elder, deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and the bus ministry. Dale enjoyed reading and was an avid Cubs fan.

      He is survived by 3 daughters: Janet S. Graham; Delberta Bowen, Donna K. Hartke, and Sherrill Pruitt of Flora; one sister: Alyne White; twelve grandchildren & twelve great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son (Delbert), four brothers (Howard, Vester, Donald & Darrell Bowen), and two sisters (Mary Reddish & Lucille Goodman).

      Funeral services were held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

      Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.

      Memorials made to Beau Knot Sunday School Class of First Christian Church.
