Notes - Kenneth Dale Poppe, 70, of Van Buren, formerly of Colorado Springs, CO, passed away Monday, June 16, 2014 in Fort Smith.
He was born April 28, 1944 in Olney, IL to the late Kenneth and Virginia Poppe.
He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL earning his Bachelors in Agricultural Economics. He was in pharmaceutical sales, and real estate, and was a member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Colorado Springs, CO and the Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren. He was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, and served in military intelligence in Washington DC during the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dody Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Alta Poppe of the home; and two children, Jay Poppe and wife Cassandra of Muldrow, and Kathy Watson and husband Lee of Fort Smith; a sister, Janet Narragon and husband Marvin of Colorado Springs; and eight grandchildren; and eight grandchildren; Ryan, Virginia, Shannon, Collin, Fulton, Marialina Poppe, Zane and Pierce Watson.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Heritage United Methodist Church in Van Buren, with interment to follow at noon at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home of Van Buren, AR.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jay Poppe, Ryan Poppe, Collin Poppe, Lee Watson, Zane Watson, and Marvin Narragon.
