- Mrs. Mamie G. Laird, 73, of Cisne, IL died at the Clay County Hospital in Flora where she had been a patient five days following a heart attack.
She was the widow of Rea Laird, who died in July, 1963.
Mamie G. daughter of Jonathan & Margaret Pittman McCormick, was born in Wayne County Sept. 11, 1891. Her marriage to Rea Laird occurred at Olney Sept. 19, 1909. Eight children were born to this union.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Willis, who died in infancy; her parents; six sisters; and two brothers.
Mrs. Laird was a member of the Enterprise Baptist Church. The greater part of her life was spent in the Enterprise vicinity.
Surviving are three sons, Raleigh, Charles, William; daughters, Pauline Wells, Hazel Harrington, Faye Engelmeier, and Lois Shadeline; two brothers, Rufus & James McCormick; a sister, Letha Gilbert; 19 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at DeSelms Funeral Home with burial in the Laird Cemetery.
