- FLORA Thelma Marie Welty, 100, of Flora, passed away at 5:19 AM, Wednesday, January 13, 2021, at the Flora Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Flora.
Thelma was born on May 12, 1920, in Flora the daughter of Pearlie and Bessie (Tolliver) Holmes. She married Elza Welty on October 23, 1938, in Olney and they shared 73 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on March 14, 2012. Thelma was a homemaker and she loved to study the bible. She was an excellent cook and loved to can vegetables and produce out of her garden. She also loved to collect Angels.
Thelma is survived by her children; Donald (Geneva) Welty, of Flora, David Welty, of Mt. Vernon, Shirley Gallaway, of Xenia, Sandra Taylor, of Buckner, Missouri, Larry Joe (Elaine) Welty, of Xenia, Glenn (Pam) Welty, of Milton, Florida, Mike (Linda) Welty, of Xenia, Joyce Panainte, of Pompano Beach, Florida, 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and numerous step grandchildren, step great grandchildren, and step great great grandchildren.
Mrs. Welty was preceded in death by her parents, still born daughter; Louise, infant son; James Welty son; Reggie Welty, grandson; Greg Newman, daughters-in-law; Loretta Welty, Pamala Welty, sons-in-law; Lawrence Gallaway, and Robert Taylor.
Burial: Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.
