    • Letson Washington Coggan, 96, of St. Simons Island died Wednesday at the Hospice of the Golden Isles.

      A native of Clay County, Ill., Mr. Coggan was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II. He retired as an executive from Sears, Roebuck and Co. after 37 years of service. After retirement, Mr. Coggan donated his time to help companies in Mexico and South America.

      A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

      In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the St. Simons Island Library or Hospice of the Golden Isles.

      Survivors include two sisters, Zelda Blessing of St. Simons Island and Norma Edlin of St. Louis, Mo.; his daughter, Anne Coggan Johnston of Winston-Salem, N.C.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

      Chapman Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
