In 1943, she was married to George Dewey Trobough and they lived in Oxford until 1957 at which time they moved to Bishop, Texas. In Bishop, they owned and operated a Dairy Queen. Dewey passed away March 6, 1966. Mamie returned to Oxford in 1969 where she spent the remainder of her life.

Mamie loved to sew and crochet and do for her family and friends. Family and friends were very important to her. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Royal Neighbors of America.
