  Alba S. Evans, age 87, passed away very suddenly Saturday evening at his home at 617 West North Avenue. He had been in ill health recently. He is the son of Thomas and Elizabeth (Rector) Evans Mr. Evans was a retired bridge carpenter of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad and had lived in retirement since 1933. He was a native of Clay County. He leaves four children: Mrs. Nelle Doty of Evansville, IN, Mrs. Elizabeth Douthitt of Olney, Vohne Evans of Anderson, IN, and Robert Evans of Effingham. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Emma Koontz of Clay City is a sister. Funeral services for Mr. Evans were held Monday afternoon in the Memorial Chapel of the Summers- Wilson Funeral Home, with Dr. H. L. Main in charge. Interment was in Clay City cemetery.
