- Samuel Butler, came to Richland county in 1841 where he entered the farm where George Butler spent his life. The family of Samuel Butler consisted of eleven sons and daughters. All of the six brothers serviced in the Civil War. One brother of George Butler was John Butler. He was killed in the battle of Gettysburg.
