  Miss Clara Evans, daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Evans of Clay City, was shot and instantly killed by J. M. Jorganson, who formerly lived at Gidney, Iowa. He then killed himself. She was 36 years old. The remains were returned to Clay City by her brother A. S Evans and taken to the home of her sister Mrs. Emma Koontz. Burial was in Clay City Cemetery.
