    • He was a music professor at St. Augustine College, Raleigh, N.C., and played the piano for more than 10 years with the Big Band musician Leon Jordan and the Continentals.

      He was a graduate of Effingham High School and continued his education at the University of Illinois, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees. He also did graduate work at the Peabody Institute, Baltimore.

      He was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed greatly.
