- Betty Cockerell was born on February 5, 1927, the daughter of James A. Lewis and Clara V. (Gerrard). She married Bob Lee Cockerell on December 19, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 22, 2012.
Betty worked at the offices of West Richland High School and Illinois Eastern Community Colleges. She also worked for the Olney Daily Mail. She retired early to care for her mother and help run the family trucking company with her husband, Bob. Later in life she ran her own tax business and worked for the Noble Village Hall.
Betty enjoyed her pets and was an advocate for the humane treatment of animals. She also took pleasure in reading, sewing, and knitting. Betty loved spending time with her family including trips and cookouts around the pond.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lee Murray; Daughter, Sue Hough; Daughter, Clara Dicus; Grandchildren, Lisa Hemrich, David Haws, Andrea Holt, Lee Ann Murray, J.D. Murray, Rick Murray, and Hunter Murray; Great Grandchildren, Brandon Wise, David and Robert Haws, Tyler and Kaitlyn Hemrich; Kelsea, Hannah, Megan, Emery, and Lydia Bock; and Kaven Murray; One Great Great Grandchild, Liam.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and infant sister, Daisy Lewis.
Burial: Wednesday October 23, 2013 at Noble Cemetery
