- Patricia I. Volk, 89, of Olney, formerly of Ingraham, passed away on Friday, February 10, 2023 at StoneBridge Memory Care in Olney, Illinois.
Pat was born on May 23, 1933 in Ste. Marie, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Serena (Kocher) Kaufmann. She married Gilbert John "Gib" Volk on December 27, 1951 in Ste. Marie, IL, and he preceded her in death on April 8, 2018.
Pat was an Army wife for the first several years of her married life to husband Gib. Their oldest child was born in Georgia where they were stationed. They then returned to their family farm in Wendelin and raised a family of 14 children.
Pat was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, and reading. She also took pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren.
Pat was an active member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Wendelin where she taught religion classes and also helped clean the church for a time. She had a strong Catholic faith. Later in life, Pat enjoyed puzzles and bird watching.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Chuck and John Volk; daughter, Jan Westendorf; son-in-law, Scott Hartrich; and grandson, Shane Lewis.
Interment will take place following the Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery in Wendelin.
