      Bob was a prisoner of war during WWII for 3 years.

      Bob G. Holcomb, 79, of Chadwick, died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at his home. He was a maintenance man with Batavia Schools for 5 years.

      He was born Aug. 8, 1931, in Patoka, Ind., the son of Clarence Edward and Viola Grace Holcomb. He married Ruth Staley on July 1, 1972, in Batavia. He was an Army veteran and served during the Korean War. He was a prisoner of war for 3 years.

      Survivors include his wife; his children, Jamie (Richard) Chapman of Tucson, Ariz., Bob(Kathy) Holcomb Jr. of Pell City, Ala., Pam Holcomb of Colorado, Joni Staley of Chadwick, Jerri Staley Reynolds of Lisle, Cindy Holcomb of Minneapolis, Janice Staley Calhoun of Milledgeville, James Robert (Becky) Staley of Elburn, and Jay Staley of Sycamore; sisters, Bonnie (Bob) Roe of Salem and Betty Thomas of Oklahoma; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

      He was preceded in death his parents, four brothers, and two sisters.

      Cremation rites have been accorded. Services have been held. Arrangements were completed McDonald Funeral Home, Milledgeville.
