  	Jasper HASLER, was born in Canton, Berne, Switzerland, February 28, 1830, and departed this life January 28, 1901. Though he had been sick for near four weeks, his death was a surprise to all. He was slowly recovering and not more than fifteen minutes before his spirit took its flight he ate a hearty breakfast. Sudden and unexpected heart failure was the immediate cause of his departure.

• Notes

  Mr. HASLER, with his parents, Peter and Elizabeth, four brothers and one sister, came to America in 1845. They located near Scotland, Greene County, Indiana, where he spent all his life, save the last seven years, during which time he resided in Newberry, Ind. Mr. HASLER was very industrious and honorable in all his dealings. During his life he was quite successful and accumulated a very creditable sum, and at the same time held the respect and confidence of all.
