- Entered active service on march 3, 1945 and received basic training at Naval Training Center Great Lakes, Illinois. Received specialized training as a Seabee at Naval Construction Training Center Davisville, Rhode Island. Served with the 23rd U US Naval Construction Battalion, based on Guam. Earned the American Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. Honorably discharged as a Shipfitter 3rd Class on April 3, 1946 at the Separation Center, Great Lakes, Illinois.
