    • Richard D. "Dick" Wilson, 76, of Highland died March 9, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville, IL.

      He was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Clay City, the son of Frank and Bernice Tolliver Wilson. He married Nila J. Cox on Nov. 7, 1954 in Flora. She preceded him in death on Feb. 29, 1996.

      He had worked in the oil fields, served with the U. S. Navy on the USS Pivot as a sweeper and the USS Helena during World War II in the Pacific.

      In the early 1950's he worked at E. J. Transport in E. St. Louis and lived in Washington Park. He then drove over-the-road for Cerro Cooper in Sauget, retiring in 1985.

      He loved college basketball, especially the Fighting Illini, country music, reading, and traveling to Owensboro and Paducah, Ky, to watch country-western shows.

      Survivors include a son, Alan K. Wilson, one daughter, Karin A. Scott; three sisters, Margaret Ross, Maxine Larimore, and Mildred Finn; a brother, Jack Wilson; and three granddaughters.

      Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, four brothers, Charles, Robert, Eldon, Ralph, and two sisters, Martha Wilson and Mary Young.

      Graveside services were held at Clay City Cemetery with burial there.

      Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern IL, or Humane Society.
