    • Chester Lee "Chet" Mears, 81, Clinton, died at 6:05 p.m. Wednesday (March 4, 2009) at Dr. John Warner Hospital, Clinton.

      He was born Aug. 2, 1927 in Kenney, son of Arnold and Cora York Mears. He married Eleanor June Miller on May 7, 1949 in Kenney.

      He is survived by his wife, Eleanor J. Mears, Clinton; one daughter, Jeanette "Jan" (Larry) Winebrinner, Clinton; one granddaughter, Hillari (Jeff) Harrold, DeWitt; one grandson, Andrew "Roob" Winebrinner, Clinton; great-grandchildren, Megan and Wesley Harrold; one sister, Mildred Maddox, Clinton and one brother, Howard Mears, Kenney.

      He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Denver Wayne "Duke" Mears; two brothers and one sister.

      He was a member of the First Christian Church of Clinton.

      He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Kenney American Legion Post and the Clinton VFW Post. He was retired from Eureka Williams Co. of Bloomington.
