- MILDRED SHULL MUSCATINE, Iowa - Mildred Fern McCubbin Shull, 91, of Muscatine, formerly of Springfield and Beason, Illinois area, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at Riverbend Nursing amp; Rehabilitation Center. Graveside services will be held on 1:00 p.m. on Friday at Bluegrass Cemetery, Beason, Illinois. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Mrs. Shull was born on March 25, 1911, in Midland City, Illinois, the daughter of Cora and James Holmes of Springfield. She married Homer McCubbin in Jan. of 1935. He preceded her in death in 1940. She later married Garland Shull on Dec. 31, 1947. He preceded her also in 1991. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Muscatine. She was well-known for her varied craft work, especially rug weaving, where she attended the DeWitt County Museum's "Apple 'n' Pork Festival" in Clinton, Illinois, for several years in the 1980's demonstrating her mastered art. Survivors include two daughters, Cleona Griffin of Phoenix, Arizona, and Charlene Hickman and her husband, Rodney, of Muscatine; three sons, James McCubbins and his wife, Sandra, of Clinton, Illinois, Lloyd Shull and his wife, Debra, of Mesa, Arizona, and Greg Shull and his wife, Donna, of Maroa, Illinois; four step-children; 17 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, who were first descendents from Ireland, both husbands, one sister, Rachel Cloak; and two grandsons.
