  Olney Daily Mail (IL) - Monday, July 11, 2011 Belva Lee Smith, 80, of Clay City, died at 6:10 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Flora Gardens. Mrs. Smith was born July 17, 1930, in Clay City, the daughter of Leo C. and Mary Ellen (Tooley) Eastin. She married Robert L. "Bob" Smith on October 27, 1950. He preceded her in death on February 2, 1979. She was a homemaker. She had worked at a day-care center, the garment factory and for Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City and Flora. She was treasurer for American Legion Unit #840. Mrs. Smith is survived by her daughter, Janice E. Smith, of Clay City; brother-in-law, Marvin Martin, of Clay City; sister-in-law, Lora Marie Smith, of Noble; sister-in-law, Lois Eastin, of Flora; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Mary Ellen Eastin; husband, Robert "Bob" Smith; three brothers, Franklin D. Eastin, Leo Leon Eastin and Kenneth Wayne Eastin; and one sister, Beulah Keck. Cremation rites were accorded. Visitation was held at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Clay City. A memorial service was held at the funeral home with Tony Reed, Charlie Allen, Brett Wright and Dick Sharp officiating. Burial was in Clay City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clay County Hospice or Clay County Cancer Support Group.
