1950 United States Federal Census

I’ve just taken a quick glance of the recently released 1950 US Federal Census.

As you probably know, the census is released to the public every 71 years.

It is still being indexed, but I must say that I’m pleasantly pleased with what I’ve seen so far.

The handwriting is clear and legible and easy to read which should make it a pleasure for researchers to use.

My first look was at the Clark Addition of Clay City, Illinois (where spent my childhood). I closed my eyes and visualized the old neighborhood and who lived where.

I’m looking forward to working with this new census.
