- Thelma M. Shipley, 95, of Flora, IL died at 3:10 PM Friday, September 9, 2011 at Flora Gardens Care Center, Flora.
She was born June 27, 1916 in Flora, IL to Homer & Edna (Alderson) Tullett. She married Ernest T. Shipley on June 10, 1934 in Flora. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1970.
During her life she worked for Lane Oil Company, the Flora newspaper, the Illinois State Library System, and was a member of Eastern Star and First Christian Church of Flora. Thelma enjoyed playing the organ, was a great cook, and loved her family.
She is survived by a son, Jim Shipley and wife Pat of Huntington Beach, CA; a daughter, Carolyn Morris and husband Jack of Mayfield, KY; 6 grandchildren: Lisa Knott, Reene VanMatre, Jenny Buettner, Janie Steininger, David Morris, Joe Morris; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her parents, husband, two brothers, and two sisters preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Thursday, September 15, 2011 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home, Flora, with Rob Clifton officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Flora.
Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association.
