- Nellie Yelch, 104, passed away at 7:45 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at Burgin Manor in Olney.
Nellie was born Apr 7, 1908 in Jasper County, IL to Grover and Bertie (Wilson) Frazier.
She graduated from Westfield High School and entered nursing training at the Olney Sanitarium on 11 Feb 1930 and graduated on 11 Feb 1933. When Richland Memorial Hospital opened in 1953, Nellie was a supervising nurse and head of the OB department.
Nellie married Ray Yelch on April 19, 1937.
She continued working as a RN until her husband Ray passed away in August 2, 1976.
Nellie is survived by niece, Nancy Lou Jarrett and husband Tony of Terre Haute, IN., niece, Sandra Sherwood and husband Keith of Casey, IL., nephew, Joe Hays and wife Barbara of Evansville, IN., niece, Regina Barcus and husband Gary of Greencastle, IN., nephew, Robert Minear and wife Angie of Tuscola, IL., nephew, Kent Minear and wife Cathy of Tuscola, IL., special friends, Rod and Sara Kelley and Raeann Sloan. Several cousins, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents, husband, four sisters and two brothers, (1 brother Ennis Frazier killed in WWII), and one nephew Kevin Minear.
