- Services for Jessie L. Scranton, 88, Tampa, Fla. and formerly of Richland County, who died Thursday, will be at the Zirkle Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell McDowell presiding. Burial is in Calhoun Cemetery.
She was born in Clay County May 8, 1894 to Ervin and Mary (Schott) Hadley. She married Basil Scranton Oct. 28, 1910. He died Aug. 8, 1969.
She is survived by three sons, Cecil, Mt. Dora, Fla., Basil, Decatur, and Russell, Tampa; three daughters, Mrs. Robert (Neta) Cravens, Olney, Mrs. George (Merle) Fawkes, Painsville, Ohio, and Mrs. Paul (Cleta) Myers, Tampa; a brother, Lawrence Hadley and a sister, Pheobe Litherland, both of Lawrenceville; 32 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three infant sons, a son Elmo, a brother and sister.
