• Notes

Mrs. Amy Coulson Wilcox, wife of the late 'Squire J. F. Wilcox, died suddenly at her home on West Maple street early Wednesday morning. Mrs. Wilcox had been indisposed for several days. Her son, George W. Wilcox, and family, were at the family home Wednesday night and remained until bed time. Her illness was not thought to be serious. Miss Mary Downard a granddaughter, who lived with the aged lady on getting up Wednesday morning prepared breakfast and then went to the bed to speak to her grandmother and found life extinct. The doctor was summoned and after examination pronounced her death due to heart trouble. Mrs. Wilcox was born, in Ohio, August 2, 1838 and at the time of her death was 82 years of age, coming to this community when a young girl. She was married in this city to J. F. Wilcox Feb. 24, 1859, who preceded her to life beyond Feb. 4, 1915. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church, uniting with the church many years ago. Until the time of her death she was active for a person of her age but was ready and waiting for the time to come when she would exchange this earthly tent for an heavenly house not made with hands eternal in the heavens. The deceased is survived by three children, George W. Wilcox and Mrs. Minnie Downard, of Flora, Mrs. Josie Bayles, of Mitchell, South Dakota. Funeral services will be held from the Flora M. E. church Friday, Jan. 28th at 2:00 o'clock p. m. (The Flora Journal-Record, Jan 27, 1921)
