Military Service	Korean War, Private First Class, United States Marine Corps  [2, 3]
His obituary says he served in World War II, his headstone says Korea. Francis would have been about 14 years old when World II ended in 1945. Korea began in 1950 and ended in 1953. Depending upon when he served, Francis would have been 19-22 years old which seems more realistic. According to Ancestry.com. U.S., Department of Veterans Affairs BIRLS Death File, 1850-2010 [database on-line]. Provo, UT, USA: Ancestry.com Operations, Inc., 2011. Original data: Beneficiary Identification Records Locator Subsystem (BIRLS) Death File. Washington, D.C.: U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Francis enlisted 23 Jan 1952 and was discharged 12 Jan 1954.
