| 1403 | Carroll graduated from Maupin High School in 1950, and then moved to Portland to attend Multnomah Bible College. It was there that a roommate gave her the nickname by which she was known the rest of her life - "Penny" (after her beautiful red ha hair). Penny earned her Diploma in Bible from Multnomah in 1953, and then moved to Los Angeles where she attended nursing school. She graduated from Los Angeles County General Hospital's School of Nursing in 1956. It was while she was working as a registered nurse in Los Angeles that she met her husband to be, a dashing young doctor, Robert Gerard Haining ("Jerry"). Penny and Jerry married in Los Angeles on the 28th of February, 1958. In the early years of their marriage the couple moved quite a bit, so almost every child was born in a different city. Keven, the eldest, was born in Santa Monica, California; second son Breck was born outside of Boston, Massachusetts; third son Derek was born in San Antonio, Texas; and daughter Kirsty was born in Palo Alto, California. In 1964 the family relocated to Seattle, which they made their permanent residence. Sons Robert and Rorke were born there. When the children were young, Penny enjoyed camping and ski trips as well as dinner parties and holiday visits to family in Oregon and California. She took classes in painting and ethnic cooking (which her children were unfortunately too young to appreciate). After the children were older, Penny returned to school at the University of Washington to pursue her interest in art. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in Painting and Art History in 1980, and in 1984 obtained a master's degree in museology with a thesis on fakes and forgeries in Northwest Coast Indian art. In addition to her love of art and painting, Penny also loved to read, especially mysteries. She appreciated Seattle's cultural offerings, particularly the museums and theatre. For more than 20 years Penny enjoyed season tickets to both Seattle Repertory Theatre and Civic Light Opera. She attended antique shows, and enjoyed collecting antique silver napkin rings, Southwest American Indian jewelry, and Barbie dolls. As her health began to decline in recent years, Penny continued to enjoy family gatherings and quiet evenings at home watching mysteries or drama on television. Friends will remember her for her kind and generous spirit, her faith in Christ Jesus, and her unwavering support of those she loved. | Richmond, Carroll Ellen 'Penny' (I10557)

Cecil was born on April 24, 1937, in Flora, the son of Charles William and Dolores Lillian (Bible) Cochran of Louisville. He grew up on the family farm helping deliver Prairie Farms milk as a child. He was raised in a Christian household and was one of the very first campers at Oil Belt. After graduating from North Clay High School, he attended Lincoln Bible Institute, where he proposed to fellow student, Wanda Lou Thomason. During their time in the St. Louis area, Cecil received his masters degree in education, and a minor in history and political science at Washington University, while teaching history and civics full time at a local high school and preaching and raising a family. He personally witnessed the joining of the St. Louis Arch during that era. In 1968, Cecil and family returned to Clay County, where Cecil was the minister at North Harter, and principal, and 7th and 8th grade teacher in Iola. When the small schools consolidated in 1971, he took the position of grade school principal of Clay City school district and remained there until the early nineties when he and Lou, who was teaching at Noble, retired and built a home in Louisville on the homestead of Cecils maternal grandfather and namesake, Cecil Bible. He then engaged in farming full time, while still officiating many marriages and funerals. He maintained a few cattle up until August of 2022 and performed his last marriage for his grandson on October 4, 2023. His love for God, His Savior, family, and farming was lifelong.
