- Delores A. Carlson, 94, of West Salem, died at 10:38 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010, at her residence.
Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mrs. Carlson was born August 23, 1915, in West Salem, the daughter of Ora and Carrie (Gaede) Shelby. She married Sexton Carlson on August 23, 1938. He preceded her in death June 9, 2000.
She owned and operated several restaurants in the Samsville/West Salem area, as well as in Effingham. The one in Samsville was called "Swedes". She and her sister also owned and operated a dress shop in West Salem called "Delaray". She was a member of Marion Christian Church. She loved all of her family and especially enjoyed cooking for get-togethers.
Mrs. Carlson is survived by two sons, Charles "Charlie" (Kay) Carlson, of Albion; Ron "Ronnie" (Sue) Carlson, of Rockford; one sister, Laura Louise McCurdy, of Albion; one brother, Bill (Wanda) Shelby, of West Salem, five grandchildren: 12 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ora and Carrie Shelby; one sister, Audrey Humphrey; and an infant son, Vernon Carlson.
Memorials may be made to Macedonia Cemetery, Marion Christian Church, or First Christian Church of West Salem.
