- Cornelius "Neil" Volk, 87, of Olney, died at 6:15 p.m. Sunday, November 25, 2007, at Burgin Manor.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney with Rev. Father Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Olney. Full military rites will be performed by Olney veterans organizations.
Mr. Volk was born December 16, 1919, in Jasper County, the son of William and Sophia (Dorn) Volk. He married Mildred Hahn on November 27, 1946.
He was an employee of Doll's Inc. in Olney for more than 40 years. He served four years in the U.S. Army during World War II and received the Purple Heart.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney and the American Legion and Knights of Columbus in Olney. He was a U.S. Army veteran.
Mr. Volk is survived by his wife, Mildred Volk, of Olney; daughter, Barbara Potter and her husband, Horace, of Hot Springs Village, Ark.; daughter, Sharron Corbin and her husband, Richard, of Sherman; son, Michael Volk and his wife, Jody Lerner, of Oakland, Calif.; son, Stephen Volk, of Laguna Niguel, Calif.; brother, Delbert Volk, of Olney; sister, Lucille Dallmier, of Willow Hill; brother, Odillo Volk, of Canton, Ohio; brother, Gilbert Volk, of Ingraham; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Annette Weber and Kathryn Fehrenbacher; three brothers, Urban Volk, Joe Volk and Father Bill Volk; and three infant brothers, Clarence, Raymond and Albert.
Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, American Cancer Society, St. Joseph Foundation Trust or a charity of choice.
