Charles W. "Chuck" Burkett, 32, of Flora, IL died at 5:30 PM Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born January 5, 1979 in Flora, IL to Terry & Angela (Utley) Burkett. He married Sara Beth Hagen on April 23, 1999 in Flora. He was a mechanic at ACT Automotive and a member of the Harley Davidson Club and Monday Night Bowling League. Chuck worked 15 hours every day helping others with their vehicles. He is survived by his wife: Sara Beth Burkett of Flora; children: Lily Anna & Aiden Westfield Burkett at home; parents: Terry & Angie Burkett of Flora; maternal grandfather: Wally Utley of Clay City; paternal grandparents: Shirley & Bob Mason of Flora; brothers: Joshua Burkett & wife Lindy of Flora, Jacob Burkett & wife Laura of Salem, Jonah Burkett & wife Tricia of Flora; sister: Deanna deSa` & husband Tomaz of Flora; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother (Deanna Utley) and paternal grandfather (Charles Burkett). A graveside service will be held at 10 AM Thursday (April 14, 2011) at Brush Creek Cemetery, Xenia. In honor of Chuck, the family requests casual dress. Visitation will be after 4 PM Wednesday at Frank & Bright Funeral Home.

NOTE:

32-year-old Charles W. Burkett of Flora was killed Saturday afternoon in an accident in Effingham County involving a motorcyle and a pickup. State police said a pickup, driven by 43-year-old George Sandifer of Effingham, was westbound on Dutch Lane approaching the intersection with U.S. Route 45. Police said Sandifer did not see Burkett's motorcycle and pulled into its path, causing both units to collide. Burkett and a passenger, 29-year-old Sarah Burkett of Flora, were thrown from the motorcycle.
