- James "Jim" Aldridge, 83, of Olney, Illinois, passed away on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
Jim was born on August 5, 1938 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Henry Harland Aldridge and Virginia Rose (McDowell). He married Verna Kay Decker on August 9, 1957 in Olney, and she survives.
Jim served in the Navy for 20 years. After he served in the Navy, he worked at Berger's Hardware Store for 8 years. After retiring, he enjoyed his hobbies; working on cars, lawn mowers, as well as playing with his grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of 64 years, Verna Aldridge of Olney; sons, Michael (Sue) Aldridge of Noble, Roy (Tracy) Aldridge of Pleasant Plains, IL, and James LeVern Aldridge of Olney; 10 grandchildren, Crystal (Justin) Saathoff, Jessica (Jeremy) Stevens, Tyler Aldridge, Brittany Aldridge, Austin Aldridge, Courtney (Logan) Davis, Dylan Aldridge, DeAnna Aldridge, and Luke Aldridge; 1 step-grandchild, Jennifer Shiley; 10 great grandchildren, Carson and Ava Stevens, James, Tobias, and Kayslee Saathoff, Kade and Xavier Aldridge, Casus Aldridge, Kadence and Amaya Davis; 2 step-great grandchildren, Colton Aldridge and Samantha Barrick; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, John Aldridge and Tom Aldridge, and sisters, Janet Andrews and Becky Payne.
A graveside service will immediately follow the visitation at Haven Hill Memorial Gardens in Olney with Pastor Mike Munden officiating.
Full Military Rites will be performed at the graveside.
