- Chloe Mathes, 103, of 109 West 10th St. and formerly of Route 2 Streator, died March 10, 2003 at her home.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday at Winterrowd-Hagi Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Central Church of Christ. The Rev. Tim Hughes will officiate. Organist Becky Lambert will accompany great-grandson, Bryan Bentlin, vocalist. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be great-grandsons: Bryan, Brad and Ben Bentlin, Joe Erio, David Bland and Wayne Hammerick.
She was born August 30, 1899 in Wayne County, IL, a daughter of Charles and Sarah (Walker) Padgett. She married Benjamin Mathes on September 17, 1917 in Fairfield. He died July 18, 1984.
Surviving are daughters: Berniece (Bernard) Edmonds and Lola Bundy, both of Streator; and Helen (Lloyd) Watson of Flora; six grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister: Leo Bidwell; brothers: Pearl, Kenneth and Guy Padgett; and two great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Central Church of Christ and was the oldest member at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Loyal Daughters Bible School Class and Young at Heart group of the church.
