- James McDowell, 73, of West Salem, died at 5:55 p.m. Sunday, May 24, l998, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Evansville, Ind.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with Bro. Gary Hall officiating. Burial will be in the Moravian Cemetery in West Salem. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
McDowell was born Dec. 21, 1924, in Edwards County, the son of Clifton and Emily (Robinson) McDowell. He married Katheryn Knust July 20, 1950, in Trenton, Ga.
He retired as a well surveyor for Schumberger Well Service in 1996. He was a car salesman for 30 years. He was a member of the Moose in Albion and First Christian Church in West Salem.
He is survived by his wife; one son, Jerry McDowell, of Coal City; one daughter, Kathy Schmidt, of West Salem; two brothers, Clayton McDowell and Richard McDowell, both of West Salem; one sister, Ruth Ann Parker, of Mt. Carmel; five grandchildren, Amy, Amber, Adam, Austin and Ashley; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Patsy Kitchene.
