- George Luther Worrell, 86, Flora, and formerly of Richland County, died Sunday, July 28, 1985, in Clay County Hospital in Flora. Services will be Tuesday in Zirkle Funeral Home with Pastor Daren Durey presiding. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with Masonic Rites at 8:30 p.m.. Burial will be in Haven Hil Cemetery.
Mr. Worrell was born June 19, 1899, in Richland County, the son of Orin Foster and Clara (Webber) Worrell. He married Ruth Pearl Seessongood and she died. He then married Martha Sterchi and she died. He then married Mildred McGrew Stanford, June 4, 1972 and she survives. He farmed, worked at the International Shoe Co., and worked for Union Oil Co. for 26 years. He was also Richland County Court Bailiff for 16 years. He was a 32nd degree Mason; a member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 926; the Flora Moose; and was a member of the United Church of Christ.
Other survivors include a daughter, Betty Rae West, Mendon, Mich.; a step-daughtre, Sue Pettit, Flora; three step-sons, Bill, Jerry and Dick Stanford, all of Flora; three sisters, Hazel Parsons and Genelle Henne, both of Olney; Evelyn Doty, Newton; three grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, a brother, and two sisters.
