  Alta M. Payne, 73, Sailor Springs, died at the Flora Care Center at 4:15 p.m. Thursday. Services will be in the Hosselton-Bookhout-Engelmeier Funeral Home (formerly Cardascio) in Clay City. Burial will be in Dillman Cemetery in Sailor Springs. Mrs. Payne was born Jan. 30, 1909, in Clay County, the daughter of William and Etta (Ross) Ross. She married Carl Shroyer, who preceded her in death. She then married Robert Payne May 27, 1946, in Louisville and he survives. Survivors include a son, William Buck Shroyer, Sailor Springs; two daughters, Mrs. Carole M Rinehart, Mt. Pleasant, Mich., and Mrs. Lowell (Juanita) McCollum, Jr., Sailor Springs; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Taken from the Olney Daily Mail, Olney, IL, April 8, 1982.
