- Mary M. Long, 88, of Flora, IL formerly of Clay City, IL died at 11:15 PM Sunday, September 5, 2010 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, IL.
She was born September 24, 1921 in Olney, IL to Wilbur & Daisey Jane (Smith) Robinson. She married Perry J. Long on July 14, 1946 in Oaktown, IN. He preceded her in death on November 15, 2000.
She was the past secretary for Clay County Superintendent of Schools, a Past Worthey Matron of Clay City Eastern Star, and a member of Olney Christian Church. Mary enjoyed her grandchildren and was an avid bowler and St. Louis Cardinal fan.
She is survived by her daughter: Mary Hemphill of Flora; 4 grandchildren: Geb Border of Flora, Ian Wilson & wife Rachel of Litchfield, Jenna Hemphill of Flora, Jerra Hemphill of Flora; 2 great-grandchildren: Cole Borders of Altamont, Jerron Borders of Flora; 3 sisters: Ruth Wilzbacher of Sumner, Pat McWilliams & husband Mac of Sumner, and Barb Petty of Olney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers (Norris, Charles, Ralph & Wilber Robinson), and 2 sisters (Georgia Robinson & Helen Zuber), and son-in-law (Jerry Hemphill).
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday (September 8, 2010) at Frank & Bright Funeral Home with Rob Clifton officiating.
Burial will be in Foster Hill (Mt. Zion) Cemetery, Clay City. Visitation will be from 1 PM until time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to that of the donor's choice
