  	Entered active service as a draftee on April 18, 1945 at Chicago, Illinois. Selected for the Infantry, completed basic training, and qualified in the military occupational specialty of rifleman (745). Assigned to Company A, 1st Replacement Regiment, Army Ground Forces Replacement Depot Number Three. Honorably discharged as a Private on October 28,1945 to enlist in the regular army at Fort Riley, Kansas. Entered active service again the next day, transferring to the Transportation Corps and qualifying in the military occupational specialty of light truck driver (345). Departed the Continental U.S on January 18, 1946 bound for the European Theater of Operations. Assigned to and served with the 3574th Transportation Corp Truck Company. Honorably discharged a second time as a Technician Fifth Grade at the Separation Center, Fort Dix, New Jersey on October 27, 1946. Earned The WWII Victory Medal and The Army af Occupation Medal (Germany).
