Fought through Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe Campaigns. Earned The Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 bronze battle stars and The WWII Victory Medal. Honorably Discharged as a Staff Sergeant on November 19, 1945 at Camp Fannin, Texas. OLNEY DAILY MAIL OBITUARY:

Julius C. Broeg, 77, of Parkersburg, died Thursday, Dec. 27, 1990 at 6:18 a.m. at Richland Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted by Dr. Berton Heleine at 3 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. Saturday until service time.

Mr. Broeg was born Feb. 9, 1913 in Princeton, Ind., the son of Julius S. and Bessie (Colvin) Broeg. He married Vivian Smith in 1951, who survives.

Mr. Broeg was retired from the Department of Corrections with the State of Illinois. He was a member of the Flora Presbyterian Church. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Broeg is survived by one brother, Charles Broeg of Lake Charles, La., one sister, Betty Kitten of St. Augustine, Fla., two nieces and several nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
