- Omer E. Ulrich, 78, of Olney, died at 6 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.
Mr. Ulrich was born August 25, 1928, in Lawrence County, the son of John H. and Verna (Roberts) Ulrich. He married Josephine Sager on August 6, 1950. She survives.
He was a retired schoolteacher, who taught in Lawrence and Richland counties for 36 years. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and served in various capacities at church and church camp. He was active in Boy Scouts, was a member of the Retired Teachers Association, was named the 1996 WVLN Man of the Year, and was a Sunday School teacher for more than 50 years.
Mr. Ulrich is survived by his wife, Josephine Ulrich; sons, Roger Ulrich and Jerry Ulrich and his wife, Deborah; daughter, Connie Ameter and her husband, Steve; brothers, Paul Ulrich and Lowell Ulrich; sisters, Freda Fife and Lorene Miller; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Ivan; and sister, Frances Welker.
Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney was in charge.
Funeral services were held at First United Methodist Church in Olney with Rev. Scott Carlson officiating.
Burial was in Sumner City Cemetery in Sumner.
