  Samuel S. Canby was a physician who served the surrounding area for a number of years. Samuel S. Canby came to Olney in 1863 and began the study of medicine with Drs. French & Lemen. In 1869 he began practicing medicine. In 1876 he went to St. Louis to attend Missouri Medical College, graduating in 1878.
