- Muriel Hanes, 93, of Flora, IL died at 4:20 PM Saturday, February 14, 2009 at Clay County Hospital in Flora.
She was born Aprill 22, 1915 in Flora to William Thomas & Clara Agnes (Bennett) Raley. She married Vernon E. Hanes on October 10, 1935 in Marion, IL. He preceded her in death on June 22, 2002.
She was a homemaker, previously worked at Throgmorton's for 20 years, and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Flora. Muriel enjoyed feeding birds and was known for her unique fudge recipe.
She is survived by a son: John Hanes & wife Betty of Knoxville, TN; a daughter: Linda Freukes & husband Keith of Seaman, OH; two grandchildren: Mark Freukes & wife Tracey of Mason, OH and Betsy Money & husband John of Maineville, OH; thee great-grandchildren: A.J. Money, Drew Ann Freukes & Christopher Barnett; one sister: Marjorie Burnett of Flora.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers.
Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, February 18, 2009 at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. There is no visitation.
Frank & Bright Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Flora Ministerial Alliance Food Pantry and may be received at the funeral home.
