Located on the south side of the city library, this is a copy of the brochure honoring that event.

- Richard was born to William and Sarah Irene (DeBusk) Eastin. He grew up in the Clay County, Illinois area.
Richard was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1947.
On June 5, 1953, he married Betty Hilderbrand Snell, and with this marriage, he also took her two children to raise and love as his own. To this union were born two daughters, Sharon Ashlock and Connie Thomas.
The family moved to Oklahoma in 1959 where Richard worked in the oil field for 40 years. He was active in the Moose Lodge and helped with the Special Olympics for 10 years. Richard enjoyed racing stock cars and dune buggy activities. He was baptized in the Baptist Church at the age of 11.
His oldest daughter, Linda Snell, went to her heavenly home in 1967, and his youngest daughter, Connie Thomas, left this world in 1991. Her remains were placed with her father for a final resting place.
