  NOTES FROM STEPHEN GREGORY "STEVE" LUKE (1947-2002): Married at age 16 she bore at least 9 children. From the age of 11 to 20 she had to help defend her frontier home against indians. Driven from that home she moved to N.C., a trip which would have taken 3 months in a wagon. From the age of 32-39 she again had to help defend her home against indians.
