  Connie J. Dust, 57, of Shumway, died at 9:59 a.m. Friday, November 23, 2007, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Mrs. Dust was born September 26, 1950, in Flora, the daughter of Russell E. and Dixie J. (Hunley) Gordon. She married Howard H. Dust on June 9, 1972. He survives. She was a kindergarten teacher at the Early Learning Center for Effingham Unit #40. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway, St. Mary's Council of Catholic Women and Illinois Education Association, was active in Right to Life and was a board member for Catholic Charities. She is survived by her husband, Howard; one son, Joseph; one daughter, Sara; her mother, Dixie J. Johnson; two brothers, Richard Gordon, and Randy Gordon; and two sisters, Trudy Harris and Sondra Geiger. She was preceded in death by her father. Visitation was at Bauer Funeral Home in Effingham. Funeral services were at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shumway. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Shumway. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorials be made to Catholic Charities, Right to Life or the donor's choice.
