  Larry Paul Bissey, 66, of Calhoun, died Thursday morning, July 8,2004, at his residence. Funeral services were held on Monday, July 12, at the First United Methodist Church in Olney with Reverend Scott Carlson officiating. Burial was in the Richland Cemetery outside of Calhoun with military rites. Larry was born on December 15,1937. He was the son of Milnor Bissey and Verda (Rogers) Bissey of Clay City. He married Shirley K. Williams on July 7,1962. She survives. Larry enlisted in the United States Army in January 1955 and retired in March 1976. During 21 years of military service, he served his country commendably with two deployments to Vietnam. He also was deployed to France, Germany, Korea and numerous other military installations throughout the United States. He worked as an accounts payable manager at Champion Labs in West Salem from 1981 until he retired in 2002. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Olney as well as a member of the church's Joy class. He was preceded in death by his parents and four infant siblings, along with three brothers, Gerald, Milnor Jr. and Jerry D. Bissey, and one sister, Lucille Harris, along with his father-in-law, C.L. Williams. He is survived by his wife, Shirley Bissey; four children, Gregory Bissey of Effingham and his wife, Rayna, Gary Bissey of Olney and his wife, Angela, Grady Bissey of Edinburgh, IN, and Beverly Bower of Mt. Carmel and her husband, Colin; and three grandsons, Landon, Addison, and Anthony. He is also survived by his siblings. Reverend Kenneth Bissey of Olney and his wife, Adabelle, Donald Bissey of Clay City and his wife, Marilyn, Bill Bissey of Tulsa, OK, and Robert Bissey of Arthur and his wife, Ruth Ann, and Lois McKinney of Sailor Springs and her husband, Jim. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins, along with his mother-in-law, Velma Williams of Calhoun, and a very dear friend, Lorraine Kinkade of Olney. Memorials may be made to his Relay for Life team at the First United Methodist church in Olney, or to Hospice of Southeastern Illinois.
